Pork to Perfection was set up by me, Stephen Manders in 2008 and is based in the north-east Cumbrian village of Hallbankgate.
It started out as a local project, supported by a few other members of the community. The group purchased 2 breeding sows and kept them on a small piece of land belonging to a local farmer.
Our goal is to produce good quality meat whilst meeting high animal welfare needs of the pigs. They are mostly out-door reared, with access to straw and area to root.
Follow the rearing of pigs i set up the hog roast catering business. Initially undertaking small events such as festivals, but over the last 2 years now mainly cater for weddings & private parties. Most of my clients come from recommendations. Pork to Perfection now provides more than just hog roasts. Extended menus, crockery provision. Please contact me to support you with planning your event.
Over last 2 years have gained experience in curing meat - bacon & air dried hams (traditional methods) & sausage making.
The future for Pork to Perfection is set to make a big leap this year. Plans to invest in expanding catering business, meat processing & pig rearing. Watch this space......
